Foreign Participation

Foreign students currently residing in Malaysia are allowed to participate to take timings subject to the following conditions : 

1) The foreign students are on "exhibition swim" only and only to have their time taken.  

2) They are allowed to participate in the first and second leg only.

3) There will be no accumulation of points, any form of prize money (individual or school),  medals or certificates to be given to them.  

4) They will pay the entry fees accordingly.      

5) The schools / clubs who have foreign swimmers participating have to declare these swimmers to the organizers for their further action. 

Qualifying Times Apply

A penalty of RM20.00 per event will be imposed on the swimmer who does not swim within the Qualifying Time.

IBSC crowned as the champion for the 1st MILO Age Group Swimming Championships 2022

 It was a firing start by the IBSC swimmers for swimming calendar year 2022. 

Represented by 76 heroic swimmers above 13 years old, IBSC was crowned as the overall champion for the 1st Milo Age Group Swimming Championship 2022 with 17 gold, 10 silver and 12 bronze. A massive congratulations to all IBSC family, swimmers, parents, coaches and all hardworking committee for the astonishing results. Bravo IBSC!

The championship, organized by Malaysia Swimming Federation was held from 14th January 2022 until 16th January 2022 at National Aquatic Centre, KL Sport City, Bukit Jalil. The three day event managed to attract a total number of 504 swimmers from 34 swimming clubs and schools all over Malaysia.

IBSC swimmers with 350 entries have showed a tremendous fighting spirit in their respective events. As a result, they were able to improve their PBs at the percentage of 65% out of 350 entries. Well done boys and girls!

Our top performer were Khiew, Hoe Yean (Steve) in open category and Muhammad Dhuha in age group 13-14. Steve Khiew contributed 7 gold medal from his individual event and 1 gold for 4x100m freestyle relay while Muhammad Dhuha contributed 6 gold for individual event and 2 gold for 4x100m medley and 4x100m freestyle relay in their respective age groups.

To add on the gold medal haul for IBSC, our own Ng, Zi Syuen has made a surprise comeback to win her 100m back in open category. She was able to snatch one more bronze for her 100m breast in the same age group category.

In a nutshell, this meet was a great success. We believe that our swimmers will continue to train harder to achieve better PBs for their upcoming meets. Hoe Yean, Dhuha dominate Milo Swim meet

 

KUALA LUMPUR: Khiew Hoe Yean and Dhuha Zulkifry were the top performers at the Milo Age-Group Swimming Championships, which concluded today.

Although the 19-year-old Hoe Yean did not manage great times, he proved to be way ahead of his peers with yet another strong showing on the final day of the meet.

Hoe Yean was just uncatchable as he finished the three-day meet with a total of eight gold medals.

He came up tops in the boys' 17-25 age-group 200m freestyle race, touching home with a time of 1:50.49sec to finish ahead of national teammate Arvin Shaun Singh Chahal (1:54.23) and Terrence Ng (1:55.47) at the National Aquatic Centre in Bukit Jalil, today.

He also sprinted home in the 100m backstroke race, finishing with a time of 56.74, while Terrence (58.93) and Hoe Yean's brother Tze Yean (1:01.20) came second and third, respectively.

Additionally, Hoe Yean also showed that he's versatile in all disciples as he came first in the 400m individual medley race with a time of 4:28.40.

To round it off, Hoe Yean put up a strong anchor's performance to help the Ikan Bilis Swimming Club (IBSC) to the 4x100m freestyle relay title.

The team of Hoe Yean, Tze Yean, Yap Min Shun and Low Ken Ji touched home with a time 3:31.50, beating off the Amateur Swimming Association Sarawak (3:37.02) and Pade-Supersharkz Swimming Club (3:39.12), who finished second and third, respectively.

The four gold medals he won on Sunday was on top of the 100m freestyle, 400m freestyle, 1500m freestyle and 200m backstroke events that he won earlier.

The only drawback for Hoe Yean was that he did not meet any of the Sea Games standard in his favourite freestyle races.

Hoe Yean, who burst onto the scene with record-breaking performances at the Malaysian Open last year, only met the Sea Games qualifying mark in the 200m backstroke event.

Meanwhile, 13-year-old Dhuha also impressed as he clinched another three more wins - the 100m butterfly, 200m freestyle and the 4x100m freestyle relay.

That took his meet tally to seven and he is certainly another one to watch out for in the future.

Meanwhile, national women's swimmer Phee Jinq En won her pet event - the 100m breaststroke race.

But her time of 1:11.15 was not enough to beat the Sea Games mark of 1:10.70 and it was nowhere near her national record of 1:08.40 either.

Dhuha : next Welson in the making ?

PETALING JAYA: Watch out for Mohd Dhuha Zulkifry.

The 13-year-old swimmer from Kuala Lumpur may just be the next Welson Sim in the making.

Dhuha, who trains at Ikan Bilis Swimming Club, is going great guns in the Milo Age-Group Swimming Championships at the National Aquatic Centre in Bukit Jalil. Yesterday, he showed his prowess by conquering all the freestyle events in the boys’ 13-14 category.

Dhuha added the 50m and 400m titles to his earlier victory in the 100m on Friday.

He not only defeated his older rivals, he was way ahead of them too.

In the 400m final, Dhuha clocked an impressive 4:06.37 to win by a whopping 24 seconds from second-placed Lim Kai Yi (4:30.43) of the Ku Renang Swimming Club.

Dhuha went on to deny Kai Yi in their fourth consecutive final duel when he pipped the latter to the 50m title with a winning time of 25.59.

On Friday, Dhuha also won the 100m freestyle and 200m individual medley at Kai Yi’s expense.

Dhuha will be gunning for a clean sweep when he goes for the 200m freestyle gold today.

Meanwhile, neither Khiew Hoe Yean nor Phee Jinq En, the two national swimmers in action in the tournament, managed to dip below the SEA Games qualifying mark.

Hoe Yean won the boys’ 17-15 400m freestyle in 3:55.65, but his effort was not good enough to beat the 3:52.65 mark, which was the bronze medal time at the 2019 Philippines SEA Games.

Jinq En too failed to impress in the girls’ 17-25 200m breaststroke after she could only muster 2:39.73 – which was nowhere near the qualifying standard of 2.32.38.

The mark was in fact Jinq En’s personal best which won her the bronze at the Philippines Games.

However, it’s worth noting that the 200m event is not Jinq En’s forte.

Dhuha dominates Milo swim meet

KUALA LUMPUR: The Ikan Bilis Swimming Club (IBSC) may have just unearth another raw gem in the form of Dhuha Zulkifry.

The 13-year-old is certainly going great guns at the Milo Age Group Swimming Championships by sweeping all of his events at the National Aquatic Centre in Bukit Jalil so far.

Dhuha, who is also the clubmate of another rising national star - Khiew Hoe Yean, blew past the field for the 50m and 400m freestyle titles in the 13-14 age-group category yesterday.

Not only did he beat his older rivals, but also outpaced them as well.

This was evident in the 400m race as he clocked an impressive 4:06.37 to beat Lim Kai Yi of the Ku Renang Swimming Club (4:30.43) by a whooping 24 seconds.

Dhuha also stamped his mark in the shorter races as he blitzed to the 50m title with a time of 25.59 with Kai Yi once again coming second in 26.29.

The wins were his third and fourth individual titles at the competition to date.

On Friday, Dhuha had already laid down the standard by clinching the 100m freestyle and 200m individual medley events, both times at the expense of Kai Yi, who finished second.

Additionally, Dhuha also proved to be a vital cog in the relay meet as he helped the IBSC to the 4x100m medley relay win.

The team of Dhuha, David Lee Boon Wei, Shaun Lee Dingguo and Tan Eng Lok touched home with a time of 4:21.10 while Ku Renang Swimming Club (4:21.95) and DSA Swimming Club (4:28.08) came second and third respectively.

Dhuha will now be hunting for his sixth gold when he competes in the 200m freestyle event on Sunday.

Meanwhile, neither Hoe Yean nor Phee Jinq En, the two national swimmers in action, came up with great times.

Hoe Yean clinched the boys' 17-25 age-group 400m freestyle gold with a time of 3:55.65 but it was not enough to beat the Sea Games qualifying mark of 3:52.65.

Jinq En also won the girls' 17-25 200m breaststroke event,but she only managed a time of 2:39.73 which is just short of the qualifying standard of 2:32.38.

The qualifying standard is in fact's Jinq En's personal best which won her the bronze at the 2019 Philippines Sea Games.

Hoe Yean books early Sea Games ticket

 

KUALA LUMPUR: Rising star Khiew Hoe Yean kickstarted the year by winning all three races he contested, while dipping under the Sea Games qualifying mark on the first day of the Milo age-group swimming championships today.

The 19-year-old, who burst onto the scene with record breaking performances at last year's Malaysian Open, began by winning the 1500m freestyle in 15:46.86 for the Ikan Bilis Swimming Club (IBSC) at the National Aquatic Centre, Bukit Jalil.

Teammates Jayden Tan took the silver with a time of 15:50.02 followed by Sebastian Soon for bronze with 15:54.41.

Hoe Yean was however not done yet as he came back in the evening session by meeting the Vietnam Sea Games qualifying mark in the 200m backstroke (17-25 age-group). He clocked 2:03.76 for the win while Terrence Ng of Pade Supersharkz took silver with 2:10.36. Hoe Yean's brother, Tze Yean, finished third with 2:13.77.

The Sea Games third place qualifying mark for the 200m backstroke is 2:03.89, set by Hoe Yean himself when he took bronze in the Philippines in 2019. 

Hoe Yean is also the national record holder in his pet 200m backstroke event, which saw him swimming 2:00.80 at the Malaysian Open last year to erase the previous mark of 2:00.94 set by Alex Lim in 1998.

Hoe Yean then finished strongly by winning the 100m freestyle with a time of 51:07 followed by Terrence (51.94) and Low Ken Ji (52.63).

"It went pretty well for me being my first competition for this year," said Hoe Yean.

"We were treating it more like a training meet but I gave my 100 per cent in the three finals.

"It was not easy to train under the current Covid situation, and I believe I will be able to go faster once I begin to taper for the Sea Games later this year," said Hoe Yean, who is set to enrol for a Bachelor of Computer Science undergraduate programme at UCSI after Chinese New Year. 

It's going to be a busy year for the Kuala Lumpur-born teenager as he also aims to earn a spot in the national team for the Birmingham Commonwealth Games and Hangzhou Asian Games later this year. 

IBSC are also counting on another prodigy to stamp his mark over the next two days. Dhuha Zulkifli launched his bid for a clean sweep in the boys' 13-14 age-group by winning the 100m freestyle (54.13) and 200m individual medley (2:15.95).
