Yeong Zhen Yi is set to be a strong iron girl in the future as she has been championing many swimming and triathlon races since last year at a tender age of 9.IBSC is fortunate to have Zhen Yi contributing top points to the club. So far, she has been the Overall Best Girl not only in swimming but also in her running and tri competitions. You will be amazed to see her list of achievements.
Zhen Yi, lanky for her age, joined IBSC mid of 2012 and has been training under Coach Zoe for merely 3 months before she was hand-picked by PRAKL former coach, Coach He Tinglan to train under the KL Junior Squad. Under her tutelage, she picked up her swimming skill pretty fast and quickly collected a bronze in 100m breaststroke in 2013 PRAKL Age Group Swimming Championship.
Even though winning many open water races, Zhen Yi has eerie feelings on the possibility of being beaten by jelly fish. So she prefers swimming in the calm pool instead.
Recently, Zhen Yi also received an Excellence Award in Aquatic awarded by the Education Department in the District of Hulu Langat.
Yi-Yi, as fondly called by her father, loves savouring spaghetti and she adores singing during her free time. Her favourite singer is Taylor Swift. A promising athlete, Zhen Yi hopes to be able to excel further to participate in Olympic swimming one day.
