IBSC swimmers broke the most records in 5th Sel ARENA Short Course Sprint 2016
It was an amazing unified effort when Team IBSC went on a record breaking spree in the 5th Selangor ARENA Short Course Sprint Invitational 2016 in Shah Alam just this weekend when our swimmers broke the most number of short course records.
Sebastian Soon, 14, led in most of his events in the short course pool, tumbled down 5 meet records in total. He recorded new times in 200m freestyle (2:00.09), 100m butterfly (58.30), 100m backstroke (1:01.02), 100m IM (1:01.04) and 200m IM (2:11.08) with his stormy performances.
Sebastion Soon led his swim in 100m butterfly where he broke the meet record with a faster time of 58.30, followed closely by Low Ken Ji (in blue cap) in 2nd place at 59.71 |
Zachary Lim, 12, was also a star swimmer breaking 4 meet records in his age group in 200m freestyle (2:05.91), 100m freestyle (57.06), 100m backstroke (1:06.70) and 200m IM (2:18.53).
The IBSC relay teams also managed 4 records as above, dominated by the younger swimmers in the 10&U category.
With the amazing and laborious swim of all 11 events by Zachary Lim, he earned the most points for himself and was awarded the 11-12 Boys Age Group as well as Overall Champion for the meet with 126 points. We are all so proud of Zachary for his 100% effort yielding spectacular results.

Low Ken Ji, also in the same age group as Sebastian, was runner-up with 65 points.

The invitational event hosted by Persatuan Renang Amatur Selangor was held for 3 days from 26th to 28th August, 2016 at Pusat Akuatik Darul Ehsan. As invited club, IBSC was only restricted to 60 participants and all were classified under the state category.
Being handicapped in numbers did not stop IBSC from collecting massive points with 720 counts and the team was positioned 2nd overall among 19 clubs. That was really an excellent achievement by the Ikan Bilises, especially in teaming up to be the top fastest in almost all age-group relays.
Such outstanding victory can never be realised without the guidance of dedicated coaches and supportive parents. Well done and congratulations to all winners!
The Team Manager, Mr JY Teo, did a great job in managing the kids and their relay events. Thanks to the chaperon, Puan Zainon and the whole support team for holding the fort too.
We hope to excel again next year.
