BRUNEI Darussalam will be hosting the 37th South East Asian Age Group (SEA AG) Swimming Championship 2013 organised by the Brunei Amateur Swimming Association (BASA) from June 7-9 at the Aquatics Centre of the Hassanal Bolkiah national stadium in Berakas.

Brunei team manager John Ting, BASA honorary secretary, yesterday said 230 swimmers from seven Asean countries, host country Brunei Darussalam, Malaysia, Thailand, Singapore, the Philippines, Vietnam and Indonesia, have confirmed their participation.
He said Thailand will be sending the biggest contingent of 88 swimmers followed by Singapore with 63 swimmers and Malaysia, 29 swimmers. There are 100 officers including team managers, coaches and parents from overseas who will be coming to witness the event.
John said Brunei has selected nine best local swimmers based on their merit and selection requirements. They comprise five boys and four girls. Four boy and two girl swimmers are from the Centre of Excellent (COE) training programme conducted by Eric Landa, Brunei swimming head coach from Holland. The other swimmers are from Royal Brunei Recreation Club (RBRC) comprising one boy and one girl, under coach Victor Tan and one girl swimmer from Skim Latihan Renang under the Youth and Sport Department.
Overall, there are 102 events to be contested during the three-day event. Thirty-four events will be held daily. There will be three age group categories: 16-18 years old (group 1), 14 -15 years old (group 2) and 13 under (group 3).
