On the closing day of SUKMA XVIII Sarawak 2016 today, Keith Lim redeemed a gold on his 50m freestyle event after crashing the pool to touch first at 23.57 ahead of Chan Jie (Sel) who was just milliseconds away as the latter reached at 23.72 to take silver.
Alwyn Tan (Png) came third at 24.06.
Meanwhile, Ong Ming Fen who also swam the sprinting freestyle, settle for bronze for KL Team at 27.61 after Tan Elynn swam to gold at 27.17, followed by Maryann Kok (Sel) at 27.48.
Earlier, the long distance 1500m freestyle was competed and as expected the victory went to national swimmer Yeap Zheng Yang (Sel) who clocked 16:10.27. Wong Jun Bin paired closely with Ngu Jiung Wei (Swk) and the former sprinted in his last lap to reach for silver at 16:23.61.

On the 100m backstroke, Tan Rou Ying managed a bronze for the team as she did 1:08.82 after Caroline Chan (Sel) who won with 1:06.42. Chris Tan (Sbh) claimed silver.

The ever exciting closing events witnessed 2 medley relays for 4x100m at the new Stadium Akuatik Sarawak, Petra Jaya.
The Women's medley relays were powered by Team Selangor (4:23.54) with Team WIPERS anchored by Ong Ming Fen coming in second (4:30.84). Host Sarawak eased to third position (4:37.70).

On the last event, the KL Team met stronger opponents as they fought to third position after the Selangor and Johor men dominated the relays and both teams swam to record times of 3:49.98 and 3:53.68 respectively.

The total medal tally for Team WIPER stands a 5 gold, 14 silver 9 bronze and is positioned third after Selangor (20-15-9) and Sarawak (6-4-4).
The next SUKMA XVIV will be hosted by Perak in 2018.
