More silvers and bronze for KL Team


The SUKMA XVIII in Sarawak continued for the 4th day in Kuching with some achievements from the KL Team and IBSC swimmers.

Despite her ankle injury, Ong Ming Fen swam to silver in the women's 400m freestyle by clocking 4:32.25 behind the host, Angela Chieng who reached first with a time of 4:29.49.

The bronze went to Ming Fen's team mate, Phoebe Law as she came in third at 4:43.51.

Meanwhile, the men's mid distance race was conquered by Selangor's Yeap Zheng Yang as he did 3:59.51 ahead of KL's Wong Jun Bin who claimed the silver at 4:07.59. Tia'a Faang Der (Jhr) took the bronze at 4:08.41.

Meanwhile, Keith Lim also settled for the silver in his 100m butterfly event after Chan Jie (Sel) broke the meet record by registering a new time of 54.80 to renew his own meet record.

Tan Yung Hung (Sel) cruised in third at 55.96.


During the women's relays of 4x200m freestyle, stronger Team Sarawak, anchored by Erika Kong won gold (8:46.68), followed by Team Selangor (8:52.97).

The KL girls represented by Phoebe Law, Nurlatifa Zahra, Anjali Lim and Ong Ming Fen settled for bronze (9:10.61).

The men's 4x200m freestyle relay was won by Team Selangor after the stronger quartet gave an awesome performance to break the previous meet record belonging to Sarawak of 7:47.31 by charting record time of 7:43.67.

The KL Team, led by Lim Ching Hwang and anchored by Keith Lim finished second with a time of 7:49.75 whilst Team Sarawak settled for bronze at 8:02.66.

The SUKMA Games on aquatic sports will wrap up today 27 July, 2016 after 5 days of intense competition.
