Former IBSC swimmer, Ong Min Fen top performer in Wilayah squad


Ong Min Fen, an old timer of IBSC, returns from Australia to swim in SUKMA 2014 in Perlis and claimed the first golf for Wilayah Persekutuan in the 100m freestyle event on day 1.



The 18 year old lass, swam impressively well ahead of the pack in the 100m freestyle event to clock 58.94s to win the gold, followed by Chris Tan (Sbh) 59.03s and the bronze went to Kok Cher Ling (Sel) 59.99s.

Likewise in the 200m freestyle event on the second day, Min Fen won gold comfortably with a time of 2:05.93 trailed by Chris Tan (Sbh) 2:08.06 and Angela Chieng (Swk) 2:08.61.

The free-stylist repeated her victory in the 400m freestyle event on day 3 when she came first with a winning time of 4:25.57, ahead of Angela Chieng (Swk) 4:26.24 and Asmalia Filzati (Sel) 4:33.68.

Thus far, up to day 3 yesterday, 31 May 2014,  Min Fen is the top performer amongst the female swimmers to garner the most number of medals in the swimming championship with 3 golds (100m free, 200m free, 400m free), 3 silver (200m IM, 4x100 free relay, 4x100m medley relay) and a bronze (400m IM).

Last 2 years in SUKMA Pahang 2012, Min Fen only managed 6 silver due to her injury sustained before the competition.
